COVID-20

As terrible as this sounds, the rising of the Coronavirus (COVID- 19) has sparked some creativity for a story. This was a short piece that I wrote this morning and I may continue with it.  The masks didn’t protect anyone. No layers of hand sanitizer could prolong the inevitable. The numbers infected had gone from hundreds to millions in under a week. The media, panicked and taking advantage of public fear, gives no clear direction of the virus and its targets. Vaccines only made the disease fatal, only after showing promising recovery, dropping populations in hundreds. The streets were those of a ghost town, stores dark and empty. Buses, cars, trains are still. Every billboard, every sign displayed only one word. “Quarantine!”.

One Sentence...

Then the darkness crept across my vision like spilled ink. *** This was a small excerpt from my book The Ones In Silver, what do you think. Does this make you wonder what is happening? I give you no context haha!

Does this hook you in?

Does this snippet pull you in? Would you want to read more? Or wonder what story this is from? “But we don't know the situation.” I say, I knew that I wasn’t really helping. She let’s out a deep breath as if she’d been holding it, it sounded slightly agitated. Another moment of silence, this whole things was one big confusing mess. Were these people brainwashed and somehow I wasn’t? To release these uneasy thoughts I stand and walk over to the fridge, I open it and pull out two Ginger Sparkling Waters and pop them open. The fridge closes automatically behind me and I set a Water down on the coffee table in front of Emory’s processing mind. I seat myself, perch myself on my arms that were wrapped around my knees and watch the bubbles rise quickly to the top of the bottle every few seconds. Only after a while of losing myself in my own thoughts did I realize the water had started vibrating on the top, pulses, as if something big was stomping around just outside. Furrowing my bro...

Can you see this? Pt. 2

Image
Once again, I have created a scene that relates to a picture. Below this beautiful picture is a "mind picture" (In other words a writing piece that relates to an image or landscape you haven't made up). Does my writing piece remind you of this image? I lay my hands over my stomach and stare through the branches. The deep world of stars glimmered over me like a great ballroom chandelier. Every glint a fragile crystal that hung from a string of gravity, held together by galaxies of other crystals. I felt small against the big open sky, but most of all, I felt lonely. I wanted to scold myself, remind myself that all I needed was Lupa, that there was no one worthy of my trust, but strange feelings still tore at my gut like a growing hunger. I close my eyes, the sound of the breeze rushing playfully through the trees, the electric buzz of cicadas a comfort against the pierce of darkness. The world seems to fade and my mind wills me toward sleep, my breath slowing into hea...

Can you see this?

Image
Does this piece I've written give you the imagery of this picture? I stood on the rusted rooftop, the metal cold against my bare feet. Lupa’s fur brushes lightly against my knee, her nose twitching curiously in the evening air. I look out before me, feeling the breeze blow over my back as if willing me to look forward at the brilliantly colored sky. The oranges and reds make the sky look as if fire was burning in slow motion, engulfing me with confidence. I run my hands gently through Lupa’s fur, bright auburn patches of fur bursted out against her gray timber wolf fur, like the sunset. The city, jagged shadows of unique architecture jutting from the soft green around me. The few skyscrapers like hands reaching to grab the fiery sky. The faint sound of a siren brings my eyes to the streets, the cars soft purrs of dashing whites and reds against the blackening night... *dont fret there will be more.*

Location Writing Pt.2

Image
For a little more that an hour I wrote in a beautiful aspen and pine filled forest. The tangy smell of the pine wafting through my nose gave me a sense of my home out doors. The lake I had hiked to had only a few families there. One girl had two dogs were extremely trained and amusing to watch. I really hope to go back there. While adventuring in these amazing woods I came up with an interesting medieval story. It includes sassy mermaids, an interesting type of treasure, pirates with intense names, a boy with a mysterious background, and a father who cares more about his job than his daughter. I will update the plots and character when I get the chance.

Location Writing Pt.1

Image
For 42 minutes I wrote in a nice park with a big open space that faded into a deep forest. There was one family there but they left after a few minutes.  I could hear the river running below me and the hundreds of different kinds of plants were green and blowing in a slight breeze around me. One of my favorite sounds was the faint train horn, that I decided would be a wonderful sound to put in a story. The story I worked on was of course The Ones in Silver, Though I am having some trouble moving the plot along. Here is a small bit of the story that I wrote while in this location.  As we sat at the picnic table I dared a question that had been brewing in my mind.  "Anybody ever tried to escape?" I ask. The chatter in my small group falls silent in a sudden hush and all eyes fall upon me. Emory sets her cold spaghetti down on the picnic table as if preparing to give me an important life lesson.  "Yes." Jax answers before she could.  From the lo...

Good Start?

I just started this story today! Do me a favor and please either +1 this or comment if you think that this would be a good idea for a story! If I don't get any I know that I should move on or alter the story plot.  ****WARNING! Kind of intense and a little graphic haha****      It felt like fire as the chemicals made their way into my vein and through my blood stream. I bite my lip in an effort to restrain myself from pulling my arm away as the needle remained in my upper arm. For a second the world flashed and fazed in and out, a wave of dizziness falling over me, causing my eyes to droop. I inhale a sharp breath as the nurse pulls the syringe away. I close my eyes, the fiery feeling fading slowly from my body. My head still spun a little as I feel Cleo's hand fall upon my wrist.  "Breathe Aspen, breathe." her voice rang softly through my head. I take a shaky breath in and hold it for a second, releasing it at the thought of the fiery pain. I fin...

***This Sentence Pt.2***

**** Here is another sentence from my story! If you've got time it would be awesome if you could give me some feedback on how the sentence makes you feel or if it might be a good hook. "I didn’t like lying, and I didn’t like believing something that wasn’t true, but I had to if I was ever going to get out of here." How does this sentence make you feel? Does it pull you in? What does this make you think of the character? What do you think is going on? ****

Vote on a title!

**** Quick summary of the book: Kai is drugged and taken from her town. She becomes part of the Society Of Colors, more specifically-The Ones in Silver. She is forced to train with them, their purpose to prevent the Telekinetic Spellbinding Demoniacs from controlling everyone's souls. With a desperate urge to get back home to where she came from she starts making plans, but instead she accidentally starts making friends and maybe something more than just friends. When she hears her mother had been controlled by the Demoniacs, she realizes how important The Ones in Silver are to not only her but her whole entire family and town. Will she choose to follow the ones who have drugged her and betrayed her trust more than once or will she get away and try to save her loved ones on her own. Here are some titles for that book, please comment and tell me what title you think is the best. I am always taking ideas! Silver Bullet The Ones in Silver Kai and the great rescue  The Societ...

***This Sentence***

**** You don't have to comment with the answers, but it would be awesome if you could! It would help me gather feedback. . .  " I knew we were both standing there, full of thought, both of us just on the other side of the door from each other." What do you think of this sentence? How does this sentence make you feel? Would this be a good hook? What do you think is happening to the characters? Where do you think the characters are? Are the characters human? ****

sneak peek on my story- The Ones in Silver 6/14/17

*** I had only 5 minutes, my heart racing so fast it drained out the sound of the other’s screams and the loud purr of the machines around me. I grip my pistol tight in my hands but it shook in my sweaty palms. The footsteps gain behind me and I smirk at their presence. I duck under the large pipe hanging from the ceiling and roll onto the ground to support my fall. Two cardboard cutouts of men with guns pop out and my reflex kicks in, the pistol jumping back in my hands as the bullets pierce the place where their hearts would be. The white blinding strobe lights and the fog machine causes my mind to race. I could feel the smoke filling my lungs but I hold back a painful cough. I hold in my breath as I travel through the blinding room, dodging the obstacles that stuck out of the wall and from the ground. I hear squeals of those who had failed and either gotten knocked out or injured by the desperateness someone else. This was the real test, this was it. I feel someone on my heels. I h...

Writing Through the Wait

This morning I went up to the canyon and ate breakfast at Ruth's Diner. All three of us (Mom, Dad, and me) went up there. Of course the place is ALWAYS packed and there was a hour and a half wait...For the wait I dragged my parents to the little river place by the restaurant. It is a unique, quiet little place and sparked all sorts of ideas for my writing. I worked on a story I had started last night. There were two musicians who were exceptionally good, I'm thinking of adding them into my story as well.                                                                  Story Piece O.T.D  These are some little pieces of the story I am currently writing. I put them in because I like their detail, the way they moved the story along or just the unique presence of the character. Comment the number of which one is yo...
